The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance Board controls, assists and directs the work of ANZIIF. It deals with all matters on which a decision is required in the interests of ANZIIF and its members. The Board is required to present a report at each Annual General Meeting on the finances and affairs of ANZIIF during the past year.

    With a background in product development and distribution, corporate strategy and portfolio management, Allan has more than 40 years of industry experience in general insurance. He holds a Diploma of Business Studies (Insurance), is a Certified Insurance Professional and is a Fellow and Honorary Life Member of ANZIIF.

    Allan is a director of a number of Steadfast subsidiaries and affiliates.

    Megan Beer is the Director of Insurance, responsible for AMP's risk insurance portfolio. Megan joined AMP in February 2014. She has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, and has performed a range of executive, finance, actuarial and consulting roles. 

    Most recently, Megan was the General Manager of Bancassurance and Direct at NAB/MLC, and prior to that General Manager of Group Insurance and Head of Finance for Insurance both at MLC. She has also been Chief Actuary, Chief Risk Officer, and Head of Claims at TAL, and was a Director with Tillinghast (Consulting Actuaries).

    Megan is an actuary and holds an MBA (Executive) and Master of Economics.

    Karl Armstrong was appointed EGM Risk & Underwriting at IAG New Zealand in December 2016. Prior to that, he was Chief Risk Officer and Executive General Manager, NZI.

    Karl has more than 40 years’ experience in the insurance industry. As Chief Risk Officer, he was responsible for enhancing the risk management capability across IAG New Zealand. In January 2016, he assumed responsibility for the closure of Canterbury Earthquakes and the direction of the new Kaikoura event. When appointed EGM Risk & Underwriting in late 2016, he also undertook responsibility for pricing, product and underwriting across all brands of IAG New Zealand.

    After 47 years with IAG New Zealand, Karl Armstrong retired on 31 May 2018. Karl has enjoyed a long and rewarding career, receiving several accolades for his contributions to the insurance industry. In 2017, he was notably awarded the prestigious ANZIIF Lifetime Achievement award.

    Prue attended the Queensland University of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws. Prior to her appointment as ANZIIF CEO, she was the General Manager, Corporate Operations at State Trustees, a role which included the oversight of Finance, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and Investments in a highly complex, medium size financial services company.

    She has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector, including management accounting at Macquarie Bank and policy development at Investment Funds and Superannuation Association.

    She has also held leadership roles in financial services product development, marketing and operations at Colonial Mutual and National Australia Bank. Prue was the Deputy Chancellor of Victoria University and the Chairman of the Resources Committee and is currently a Board member at Citywide Service Solutions, as well as a Board member at MyLife MyFinance.

    Andrew, a qualified accountant, joined the loss adjusting industry in 1984. In 1992, Andrew moved to Sydney to open an office on behalf of Robertson and Co. The business expanded considerably over the following 10 years until it was acquired as part of the Crawford & Company acquisition of Robertson and Co (Australia).

    In addition to handling major fire, mining and business interruption losses, Andrew has acted as the lead adjuster in Australia’s largest malicious product tamper (extortion) claims. Other significant experience includes large political risks, CAR, professional indemnity and product liability claims.

    Andrew was recently appointed Chief Executive Officer of Crawford Australia and has had responsibility for the Pacific Region since January 2014.  He is responsible for developing and implementing group strategy with a focus on innovation, growth and brand awareness.

    Tim began his career with T&G Life in 1979 (now part of the AXA group) in a customer service role. After three years in that role, he joined his father’s small life and general insurance agency (Considine’s Insurance). In this role, Tim built a portfolio of clients to service with a particular target and focus on Professional Indemnity for engineers.

    In 1993, Tim opened up a branch office for GIO Australia in Box Hill whilst continuing to service the Professional Indemnity portfolio. Six years later Tim was approached by Countrywide Tolstrup to join them in part of their succession planning strategy which led to his appointment as Managing Director in 2006.

    Austbrokers Countrywide has continued to grow and has acquired three Melbourne broking firms (John Smith Insurance Brokers, ACI Insurance Brokers (Vic) and Hamilton & Hamilton Insurance Brokers) since July 2009. Some career highlights for Tim include being elected as Chairman of the Austbrokers Network Steering Committee in 2005 and to the Board of Austbrokers and IBNA Member Services (AIMS) in 2010.

    Catherine has been part of the Suncorp Group for the last 15 years, joining Vero in March 2013 as the Executive General Manager Human Resources. 

    Catherine is accountable for the development, implementation and management of the People Strategy which supports the business objectives of Vero New Zealand and aligns to the Group’s overarching People Strategy. 

    Previously Catherine was the Executive Manager Human Resources & Communication for Suncorp Life New Zealand. 

    In 1999, Catherine joined the Life business of Royal & SunAlliance and supported the significant change to the business during her tenure including the acquisition and divestment of a number of businesses. Prior to joining the Suncorp Group, Catherine worked for IAG in both business and HR roles for 13 years.

    Simone is the Chief Operating Officer for Munich Re in Australasia where she is the strategic representative and owner of business supply topics including HR, IT, facilities and projects for Australia and New Zealand. Her focus is on delivering the operational platform and capabilities that will support the Life and Non-Life business units in delivering innovation opportunities and client solutions. Simone also has management responsibility for the GLA business run-off and the local reporting line for Corporate Insurance Partners (CIP).

    An experienced Executive leader specialising in the general insurance industry, Simone has more than 20 years' experience in insurance and eight years in management consulting experience in both Australia and the UK, delivering a variety of strategy and business consulting engagements. Simone has experience across a broad range of roles including claims, information technology, acquisitions, people and culture, strategy and business transformation.

    A Senior Associate at ANZIIF and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Simone holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Law from University of Sydney and an MBA from AGSM (University of New South Wales). Simone was also the winner of the ANZIIF Peter Corrigan International Scholarship in 2012 and was a member of the ANZIIF Women's Council from 2013 to 2017.

    Daniel is the CEO and Founder of Evari (, an insurtech start-up and Lloyd’s coverholder, digitally servicing the insurance needs of small businesses in Australia, and licensing their cloud-based technology to insurers in multiple markets.

    Daniel is a Fellow and Board member of ANZIIF, and a member of the Advisory Committee of Insurtech Australia. 

    Daniel was previously CEO General Insurance Australia and New Zealand for Zurich, and has held executive positions at Suncorp/Vero and at Westpac.

    He has a Masters from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of NSW.  He is a Fellow of FINSIA, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Chartered Accountant.

    Jonathon has been an independent non-executive director of ANZIIF since 2009. JE held the role of Deputy President in 2011-2012 and was President 2013-2015. 

    Jonathon is currently Executive General Manager - Claims of QBE Insurance Australia & New Zealand and is responsible for management of end to end business operations for 12-strong franchised agency network. In addition, he manages an employee team of 100 people.

    He has been employed in various roles within the insurance industry during hte past 25 years, commencing with AMP General Insurance Limited in 1990. Jonathon has worked in both Adelaide and Sydney and held senior positions in Claims, Underwriting and Customer Service, including as General Manager of Elders Insurance from late 2011.

    Jonathon has a Bachelor of Management (Employee Relations Management) from the University of South Australia; an Australian Institute of Company Directors Diploma; and a Certificate in Executive Decision Making form the Swiss Insurance Training Centre, Zurich.

    Dr. Tony Lee has over 15 years of experience in the Banking and Insurance Industry specializing in strategic management, business development, risk underwriting, insurance broking, global insurance placement, reinsurance placement, enterprise safety management, corporate training, financial planning, human resources consulting and employee benefits consulting.  

    Tony is currently the Chief Business Officer Macau at Marsh and Mercer Marsh Benefits. Prior to this role, Tony was the Assistant Vice President responsible for underwriting and distribution management at Allied World Assurance Company Limited. Prior to joining Allied World, Tony was the Executive Director of Seascope Risk Services (Hong Kong) Limited and the Director & Chief Representative of Willis Hong Kong Limited, Macau Branch Office. 

    Tony has a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Tarlac State University, a Master of Laws Degree from The University of Wolverhampton, a Master of Business Administration Degree from Charles Sturt University, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from The Open University of Hong Kong, a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from University of Lincoln and a Professional Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health from Hong Kong Baptist University. He is currently a Part-Time Lecturer of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Vocational Training Council.

    Paul has in excess of 25 years industry experience and has an extensive knowledge of reinsurance and insurance. He is currently Executive General Manager at Rothbury Insurance Brokers.

    His prior role was as General Manager – Broker Products, Lumley General, in which he had overall responsibility for the underwriting and claims for Lumley General’s five commercial portfolio’s. Other past roles include General Manger Corporate, AON NZ, Manager for NZ EIG-Ansvar and Client Manager Swiss Re. 
    He is a past Board member for the Insurance Council of New Zealand and is a past examiner for the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. Paul became President of ANZIIF’s New Zealand Member Advisory Board in July 2013.

    Tim is an insurance industry executive with more than 25 years’ experience across insurance, reinsurance and financial services.

    He is currently the CEO of General Insurance, Australia and New Zealand at Zurich and has significant experience as a CEO, Senior Executive and Director, with a particular focus in innovation, transformation and change for the betterment of customers. Previous roles have included Group Executive, insurance for NSW at icare, CEO of QBE Australia and New Zealand; Managing Director of Elders Financial Services Group and Managing Director of Elders Insurance.  

    Earlier in his career, Tim held senior positions with Swiss Re, Sydney Re, QBE Re (London), QBE Australia and Australian Eagle Insurance. Tim has completed the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program, is a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, has a Master of Business Administration and Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Economics from the University of New England and Bachelor of Agricultural Science from LaTrobe University.

    Donna is the Chief Technical Officer at Allianz. In this role Donna has responsibility for driving innovation across the companies  technical capabilities.

    Donna has previously held executive positions including, Executive General Manager, Broker Business at iag, responsible for developing relationships and driving iag's performance across the broker market and General Manager of Claims and Chief Actuary at CGU, responsible for leading the provision of claims services across CGU commercial and personal lines products.

    Since joining CGU in 1999, Donna has worked in a senior capacity across a variety of areas of the business, including leading large scale change programs, pricing frameworks, reinsurance projects and performance monitoring and management information delivery.

    Donna is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
