ANZIIF is committed to providing you with the highest levels of customer service. This includes protecting your privacy. We understand the concerns you may have for your privacy and the security of information collected from you, either in hard-copy or online, and is committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information, ensuring that your personal data is handled sensitively and securely. The purpose of this policy is to let ANZIIF customers know what information is collected about them, how this information is used and if it is disclosed.


We provide a range of membership, education and professional development services.  Our Head Office is based in Melbourne, Australia, while we also have branches in New Zealand, Hong Kong, and China which provide many additional services including seminars, events and activities that will complement your understanding of the financial services industry and issues particular to the insurance sector. Discussion groups concerning specific areas of interest and networking opportunities are also available.


ANZIIF may hold personal information including your name, date of birth, current and previous addresses, telephone/facsimile contact numbers, email address, employer and your position title. We also hold details of ANZIIF services you have accessed.

How we collect your personal information

ANZIIF collects personal information in a number of ways, including:

  • Directly from you, when you provide information by phone or in documents such as an application form.
  • From your authorised representative, such as your employer.

How we use your personal information

Your personal information may be used in order to:

  • provide, administer and manage the services you require
  • help us to identify and inform you about other ANZIIF products or services that you have access to, to enhance your professional development
  • continually improve our products and services
  • meet education regulatory reporting and compliance
  • ANZIIF will on occasion be asked to submit delegate names and contact details to event sponsors. Please contact our Customer Service team if you do not want your details to be released to the sponsors of an event you are registered for.
  • when registering for an event your name and company will be listed in the event app*. Please contact our Customer Service team if you do not want your details to be listed in the event app*.
  • when registering for a webinar your name and contact information may be provided to third parties in order to administer the event. Your information and contributions may also be visible to other participants during the webinar.

As a registered training organisation (RTO), we collect your personal information so we can process and manage your enrolment in a vocational education and training (VET) course with us.

We use your personal information to enable us to deliver VET courses to you, and otherwise, as needed, to comply with our obligations as an RTO.

We are required by law (under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (Cth) (NVETR Act)) to disclose the personal information we collect about you to the National VET Data Collection kept by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER). The NCVER is responsible for collecting, managing, analysing and communicating research and statistics about the Australian VET sector.

We are also authorised by law (under the NVETR Act) to disclose your personal information to the relevant state or territory training authority.

You may receive a student survey which may be run by a government department or an NCVER employee, agent, third-party contractor or another authorised agency. Please note you may opt out of the survey at the time of being contacted.

When we disclose your personal information

For the purposes set out above, we may disclose your personal information to organisations outside ANZIIF such as:

  • Outsourced service providers who manage the services we provide to you, including:
    • information technology
    • mailing systems
    • examination supervisors
  • Your authorised representatives, which may include your employer, if provided
  • Government and regulatory authorities as required or authorised by law
  • Our professional advisers, including our auditors and lawyers.
Where personal information is supplied to another organisation or person, it is protected by a contract of non-disclosure so that it cannot be used for other purposes – commercial or non-commercial.

Academic Results

Many employers support their staff in their studies and are keen to know their progress. ANZIIF on occasions is asked to supply student results to employers and will do so if your employer is listed on your account. Please indicate if you do not wish to have your results released to your employer for any enrolments by emailing the Customer Service team, quoting your Master ID, the name of the module and advising that you do not agree to ANZIIF releasing your results to your employer.

ANZIIF has been asked to forward contact details for Loss Adjusting students to the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA). If you do not agree to your contact details being released to AICLA, please email the Customer Service team quoting your Master ID and request your information not be released.


In order to streamline the renewal process, a number of employers engage with ANZIIF on behalf of their staff to renew their individual memberships as a collective. To facilitate this process, ANZIIF discloses basic membership information to your employer, including Membership Level and Membership Status. If you do not agree to your membership details being released to your employer, please email the Customer Service team quoting your Master ID and request your information not be released.

As part of promoting professionalism in the insurance industry, ANZIIF may also list newly elected and upgraded members in the Journal, as well as listing this information within the ANZIIF website. If you do not agree to having your membership details being listed in the Journal or on our website, please email the Customer Service team quoting your Master ID and request your information not be released.

Help us to ensure we hold accurate information

ANZIIF takes all reasonable precautions to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date. However, the accuracy of that information depends to a large extent on the information you provide. That's why we recommend that you:

  • let us know if there are errors in your personal information
  • keep us up-to-date with changes to personal information such as your postal and email address
  • if you find that personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date, please contact ANZIIF to have it corrected. 

You can access your information

ANZIIF shall, on request, provide you with information about you which is readily accessible and which may lawfully be provided. We reserve the right to charge a fee for searching for and providing access to your information. Your request to provide information must be in writing and will be provided to you as soon as practically possible.

Resolving your concerns

If you believe that the privacy of your personal information has been compromised, you are entitled to express your dissatisfaction. We will respond to your complaint as soon as possible but within two working days, to let you know who is responsible for managing your complaint. It is expected that all complaints will be resolved within three working days. When this is not possible, we will contact you within that time to let you know how long we estimate it will take to resolve the complaint.
