Module Assessment

Exam

The closed-book exam is theory-based and runs for 90 minutes. It consists of two parts: Part A — multiple choice questions, and Part B — short answer questions. A minimum result of 50 out of 100 is required to pass this assessment.

An exam confirmation email and online access instructions  will be sent prior to the exam, so it is important that ANZIIF is notified of any changes to a student’s contact details.

If you have questions about exam supervision during the COVID-19 self-isolation period, please contact Customer Service at [email protected].

Exam Preparation

To assist you in preparing for the exam, ANZIIF offers practice exam questions and answers for most courses. All exam questions are based around the course materials for each module. Completing the self-help questions and activities in the module is also a good way to prepare.

Practice exams are available for most modules and can be accessed via ANZIIF Learning. Note that the practice exam is not indicative of the number of questions that will appear in the actual exam.

An Online Discussion Forum is also available via ANZIIF Learning. This is where students can post any study-related queries and have them addressed by a forum moderator.

Exam Supervision

Completing an Exam at a Workplace

Exams can be taken at a student’s workplace. However, an eligible exam supervisor must be available to oversee the exam. Students can nominate an appropriate person from their workplace to act as an exam supervisor, such as a:

  • human resources or training manager
  • current qualified member of ANZIIF
  • teacher or person working in education
  • indirect workplace manager (the student cannot be a direct report).

The exam supervisor must be approved by ANZIIF and cannot be a current ANZIIF student, a member of the student’s family or a friend. Exams completed at a workplace can be undertaken at any time throughout the exam day.

Find out more information on the roles and responsibilities of being an exam supervisor.

Materials allowed in an Exam

When sitting an exam, students can bring in or use the following:

  • non-programmable calculators. Calculators that are programmable and machines that have both alphabetic and numeric characters on the keypad — such as mobile phones, tablets and electronic calculators — are not permitted.
  • blank paper. Please leave all writing paper in the exam room for the supervisor to securely destroy. Written, typed and printed materials — including legislation, module textbooks and dictionaries — are not permitted.
  • snacks and beverages that can be consumed quietly. If you are sitting an exam at an ANZIIF exam venue, please be mindful of your colleagues when making your selection.

Assignment

The assignment is completed online and consists of a set of questions based on a list of competency elements applicable to the module. The assignment is due after the exam, allowing students more time to prepare and submit.

Students must be assessed as competent in all assignment questions to pass the assignment. In line with other vocational qualifications, students will receive a ‘Satisfactory’ or ‘Unsatisfactory’ grade for their assignment.

Submission of the assignment will automatically occur at 11.59 pm (AEST, or AEDT between October to April) on the assignment due date.

Assignment Referencing

There are several styles of referencing, but ANZIIF’s preferred style is simple in-text referencing.

Introduce the source by name and use quotation marks to show the specific text you are referencing:

According to Insurance News ‘US insurers can absorb costs arising from Hurricane Matthew, which is causing considerable flooding in the US coastal state of North Carolina as it heads back into the Atlantic.’

You should then put simple bibliographic details about the source of the reference beneath each complete answer in which you have used in-text references. For example:
