ANZIIF New Zealand Compliance for Advisers - General Insurance
The ANZIIF New Zealand Compliance for Advisers (General Insurance) is designed for New Zealand general insurance professionals who are seeking to meet the standard required by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services, in New Zealand.
ANZIIF Pathway for New Zealand Compliance for Advisers
ANZIIF are excited to announce the Level 5 equivalent compliance training for New Zealand advisers in General Insurance and General Insurance Broking. General Insurance Broking professionals can refer to the ANZIIF New Zealand Compliance for Advisers (General Insurance Brokers) webpage.
The FMA has been advised that the industry training organisation, The Skills Organisation, has successfully completed an equivalency assessment of ANZIIF’s New Zealand Compliance for Advisers (General Insurance and General Insurance Broking). The Skills Organisation has confirmed that ANZIIF’s Compliance Certificates for New Zealand advisers meet the standard required by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services, in New Zealand.
ANZIIF's compliance pathway was approved by the Skills Organisation to be used to meet the standard required by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services, in New Zealand. Undertaking this process has demonstrated that there is clear coverage within the overarching competencies, particularly as they cascade down to the learning elements and performance criteria, along with the performance and knowledge evidence required to be awarded each of the identified competencies.
Based on this assessment from the Skills Organisation, a person seeking to demonstrate capabilities (for the purposes of the new Code of Conduct for Financial Advisers) equivalent to this particular specialist strand, i.e. General insurance strand, would be able to do so by completing ANZIIF’s New Zealand Compliance for Advisers (General Insurance and General Insurance Broking).

What are ANZIIF's Pathways for Compliance
In New Zealand, advisers in General Insurance and General Insurance Broking can rely on ANZIIF's compliance solution to demonstrate the standards of competence, knowledge and skill prescribed in the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services which comes into effect from 15 March 2021.
ANZIIF has a number of compliance pathways for advisers based upon their experience and qualifications. Regardless of the chosen pathway, all advisers will also need to complete ANZIIF's new bridging unit.
To obtain compliance through ANZIIF, you have three possible pathways.
See the FAQ's at the bottom of this page, for compulsory units that make up the Adviser Compliance.
ANZIIF Pathways | |
Pathway 1 |
If you have completed study towards, or hold an ANZIIF Diploma of General Insurance or an ANZIIF Diploma of Insurance Broking, please contact [email protected] for your tailored pathway.
Everyone's tailored pathway will include the ANZIIF bridging unit (NZCGI-20 for General Insurance, NZCGB-20 for General Insurance Broking) which covers off the new code of conduct standards. |
Pathway 2 |
If you are experienced without a qualification (or you hold a qualification not listed in Pathway 1) then you can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
This ANZIIF learning pathway allows experienced advisers in general insurance or general insurance broking without a qualification to receive accreditation based on demonstrated capability. RPL to the full suite of competencies reduces formal studies to just the new components required under the code - covered in ANZIIF’s new bridging unit (NZCGI-20 for General Insurance, NZCGB-20 for General Insurance Broking) completed online.
ANZIIF has extensive experience in assessing people via RPL and works with individuals to assist them in preparing for the assessments - essentially a portfolio of experience and an interview conducted by ANZIIF. Click to learn more about RPL |
Pathway 3 |
If you are new to the industry and do not have a qualification then you can undertake studies to attain the ANZIIF New Zealand Compliance for Advisers (General Insurance or General Insurance Broking). The Adviser Compliance qualification will be delivered fully online through interactive, explorative learning in 5 or 7-week units.
A study period commences once every 2 weeks. You decide the pace of your learning and speed to competency. For advisers in General Insurance Broking, view The ANZIIF New Zealand Compliance for Advisers (General Insurance Broking).
