  • The Value Chain - Digitisation of the insurance industry is changing the way insurers operate. How does this affect the consumer, insurer and wider industry? This session will feature presentations on distribution, underwriting and pricing, claims and loss prevention.
  • Ethics, Trust and Transparency - Trust and transparency are an important part of customer engagement. This session will delve into how to build and retain consumer trust, is convenience greater than privacy and where do we draw the line. Also included in this session will be discussions on the ethical considerations around AI.
  • Collaboration – Building a thriving ecosystem is about working together. What are the current issues, different strategic models, challenges and barriers that are encountered when partnering with insurers and insurtechs? We’ll delve further into building for the future, using insurtech and incumbent partnering perspectives.
  • Scaling and Investment – The digital growth of insurance is seeing innovation and expansion into new areas. What are investors looking for? How do insurtechs scaling into other regions?

    Dr Theresa Dirndorfer Anderson is Associate Professor of Data Science and Innovation at UTS. A data and information ethicist passionate about shaping future digital and data infrastructure, she is building a human-centred data science network. Theresa's internationally award-winning work as an educator and as a researcher for the past twenty years engages with the ever-evolving relationship between people and emerging technologies. As inaugural Director of the UTS Master of Data Science & Innovation program, Theresa’s research guided the development of a uniquely transdisciplinary and human-centred curriculum. Her current work engages with data and AI ethics at both a theoretical and practice levels, advising government, industry and NGOs on ways to embed value-sensitive and participatory approaches to data and AI practices in various contexts.

    Stuart has over 20 years’ experience in financial services and information technology.   Stuart joined DXC from Insurance and Care NSW (icare) where he was CIO and delivered the digital platforms that underpin the transformation of workers compensation in New South Wales.

    Stuart has extensive experience in insurance including building, licensing and leading Kiwi Insure, an innovative life insurance business for Kiwibank, New Zealand.

    Stuart is a veteran of applying digital technologies to the benefit of customers and the business, starting in the mid-90s with the program to digitize and offer online, John Wiley’s scientific, technical and medical journals.

    Having graduated in 1998 from Cambridge University, with a Masters in Computer Science, Economics and Management, Jonathan’s early career saw him set up and develop analytics units in a number of marketing services groups in the UK and Australia. He followed this with a spell at Accenture, where he was instrumental in the formation and growth of its Marketing Science unit.

    In 2003, he founded Fuel, an analytics consultancy in London. After growing to 30 people, with annual profits exceeding £1m, in 2009, the business was acquired by The Engine Group.

    Career highlights include working alongside the UK Department of Health to redefine its policy and communications strategies across smoking cessation, teenage pregnancy and obesity, and helping several multinationals reallocate billions of dollars of marketing spend around the world.

    Emigrating with his family to Sydney in 2012, Jonathan spent 3 years consulting to large Australian corporations including insurers IAG and QBE, before embarking on the Huddle journey.

    Rob has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry in a variety of leadership positions with AF Group, USAA, Citigroup, and the Federal Reserve Board. He is a recognized thought leader on P&C insurance who is a frequent media contributor and well-known industry influencer. Rob holds a Master’s of Science in Insurance Management from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Michigan State University.     Prior to starting Daisee, Richard was CEO of OFX Group, one of the world’s leading international payment and foreign exchange companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

    Before this, Richard was the first Regional Managing Director of Google in Southeast Asia (including Australia and New Zealand). While at Google, Richard led the region’s commercial and country operations, more than doubled its multi-billion dollar revenue and managed the local integration of the YouTube and DoubleClick acquisitions.

    Prior to his role at Google, he was Chief Executive of firstdirect Bank in the UK, which was the UK’s first online bank with 3000+ call agents servicing millions of customers. This call centre exposure was a pivotal moment for Richard, as he nurtured his interest in voice analytics and started Daisee nearly a decade later.

    Richard also worked for the HSBC Group for 8 years, embarking on several international roles working in Hong Kong, UK and USA, including being HSBC’s first Global Head of Internet Marketing and leading a global JV with Yahoo!

Coverhero Launched their First product Hustlecover.com to fill the gap of financial insecurity for the growing Gig Economy and self employed generation. Coverhero  was selected to the first cohort of Qantas AVRO accelerator program competing with 500 other startups. Coverhero was a finalist, top 15 companies of TechCrunch Startup Battlefield Australia and recently completed the Plug and Play Insurtech program (Batch 7) in Silicon Valley. Coverhero has been featured in Global Insurtech news, Business and technology media as an emerging startup in fintech.

    Graduating with a Masters of Philosophy in Management at the age of 22, she has 18 years of experience in a wide range of industries across Senior level positions  spanning across Academia (Business studies, Research Methodology and Design), Management Consulting, Documentary production, Travel & Destination Marketing and Technology. Naby's Research background is in social science where she deeply studied human behaviour in her Academic career. She is currently taking a break from her Phd to focus on building technology driven solutions that solve community problems. Naby is not a new face to start up  scene in Australia with number of her own startups, and Business ventures working closely with founders and catalyses of innovation in the Australian Startup Ecosystem in the last 8 years. She has advised the United Nations Development Project on building start-up ecosystems and designed accelerator programs to drive innovation in developing Nations. She was an Australian delegate of  at the G20 Young Entrepreneurs conference in Berlin in 2017. Naby Is a Key Note speaker, commentator, thought leader and an advocate for diversity of thought  in financial services and technology sector.

    Anthony has a love for flying, a knack for technology and a passion for business, with experience in engineering and technology development across small and large businesses, start-ups and the military. He was previously a commissioned officer in the Royal Australian Air Force and is now deeply involved in the unmanned technology (drone) sector, with vast experience in utilising drone technology and process automation to drive commercial outcomes. Anthony won the inaugural NexGen Industry Champion award in 2019 for his contribution to industry and was recently elected to the board of the Australian Association of Unmanned Systems. Anthony draws on his aviation and technical experience to drive the development of AirAssess’ technology platform and insurance inspection solutions.

    Anthony holds a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering from RMIT University and an MBA from the Melbourne Business School.

    Juliette is a professional water resources engineer turned entrepreneur. Juliette is a passionate and driven individual, inspired by social good and solving big-impact problems. After seeing the devastation of the Queensland 2011 floods and then the Calgary, Canada 2013 flood, and how each impacted on friends and family, Juliette was motivated to improve flood preparedness and response. In 2018 Juliette founded FloodMapp with her co-founder Ryan Prosser. FloodMapp combines traditional hydrology and hydraulic modelling techniques with big data analytics and machine learning; to offer predictive flood mapping aimed at helping insurers prevent loss and improve the customer experience in the moments that matter.

    Prior to FloodMapp, Juliette worked as a consultant and water resources engineer for over ten years specialising in surface water management, flood modelling, hydrology, water supply planning and mine water management. Throughout her career, she has worked at Golder Associates, Seqwater and Jacobs, gaining experience with different climates and hydrological challenges across Australia, Indonesia and Canada.

His company connects fragmented systems, operational services and data in real-time to drive transformation across an enterprise ecosystem. Codafication has also been scouted by Microsoft for their start-ups program in 2019 and is helping global partners drive innovation and transformation projects.

    Prue joined ANZIIF after 10 years as the General Manager of Corporate Operations with State Trustees. She is currently a director at Australian banking institution, and civil engineering firm, Citywide Services Solutions. Up until her appointment at ANZIIF, she served as Deputy Chancellor of Victoria University.

    Since her appointment as ANZIIF CEO, Prue has led the transformation of the organisation through the introduction of ANZIIF Professional Standard Qualifications. She has strengthened relationships with industry, entering into partnerships that extend through Asia Pacific and recently into Europe.

    Prue holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology and a Diploma of Financial Services from ANZIIF. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, and an ANZIIF Senior Associate.
