The 2020 Conference program will be informative and engaging, featuring a variety of relevant topics, keynote speakers, case studies, fireside chats and a panel. This year’s highlight will be the 1:1 meeting area where attendees can arrange to meet with one another for discussion, along with the return of Insurtech Alley – connecting insurers directly with tech companies, providing a platform to discuss opportunities and to forge new relationships.

  • The Value Chain - Digitisation of the insurance industry is changing the way insurers operate. How does this affect the consumer, insurer and wider industry? This session will feature presentations on distribution, underwriting and pricing, claims and loss prevention.
  • Ethics, Trust and Transparency - Trust and transparency are an important part of customer engagement. This session will delve into how to build and retain consumer trust, is convenience greater than privacy and where do we draw the line. Also included in this session will be discussions on the ethical considerations around AI.
  • Collaboration – Building a thriving ecosystem is about working together. What are the current issues, different strategic models, challenges and barriers that are encountered when partnering with insurers and insurtechs? We’ll delve further into building for the future, using insurtech and incumbent partnering perspectives.
  • Scaling and Investment – The digital growth of insurance is seeing innovation and expansion into new areas. What are investors looking for? How do insurtechs scaling into other regions?

    Chris Bayley is the Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Cover Genius, one of the fastest growing insurtechs globally. Cover Genius has received dozens of awards within insurance and tech circles for its patent-pending platform and global capability that ensures user-centricity throughout the entire customer journey, an approach that has led to global partnerships with, amongst others, Booking Holdings (NASDAQ:BKNG). 

    Prior to starting Cover Genius, Chris was one of the first few employees in Google's Sydney office where he managed the insurance team. Chris has an MBA from the University of Technology Sydney and a BA with Honours. 

    Chris is passionate about social entrepreneurship and is a board member and advisor to multiple NGOs and startups.

    Daniel is the CEO and Founder of Evari, an insurtech start-up and Lloyd’s coverholder, digitally servicing the insurance needs of small businesses in Australia, and licensing their cloud-based technology to insurers in multiple markets.

    Daniel is a Fellow and Board member of ANZIIF, and a member of the Advisory Committee of Insurtech Australia. Daniel was previously CEO General Insurance Australia and New Zealand for Zurich, and has held executive positions at Suncorp/Vero and at Westpac.

    He has a Masters from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of NSW. He is a Fellow of FINSIA, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Chartered Accountant.

    Rob Galbraith is the author of the Amazon bestselling book The End Of Insurance As We Know It which has been sold to insurance professionals around the globe since its release in February 2019. Rob has been called “a global insurtech thought leader”, “a mentor to many in the insurance industry”, “the most interesting man in insurance”, “the prophet” and “the WD40 of insurance” for his versatile skills and ability to solve all manners of problems. Rob is a popular keynote speaker who has spoken at events around the globe on the topics of innovation, insurtech and the future of insurance.

    Rob has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry in a variety of leadership positions with AF Group, USAA, Citigroup, and the Federal Reserve Board. He is a recognized thought leader on P&C insurance who is a frequent media contributor and well-known industry influencer. Rob holds a Master’s of Science in Insurance Management from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Michigan State University. In addition, he holds the CPCU, CLU, and ChFC professional designations.

    Michael combines his strong product management experience with his commerce studies and entrepreneurial spirit to lead the JRNY team.

    As founder and CEO he has lead JRNY from conception, through three investment rounds, and managed a successful pivot to an insurance specific solution just 12 months ago. JRNY has grown from a team of 2 to a full time team of 11, has blast onto the insurtech scene and is now a key member of the insurtech community in Asia/Pacific.

    Under Michael's leadership, JRNY has been named in the top 2 startups in Asia Pacific, is an InsurTech100 company and was identified by Deloitte as "one to watch" at the Fast 50 Rising Star awards.

    He is also an experienced public speaker internationally across technology, business and insurtech conferences.

    Personally, he is passionate about the importance of insurance in people’s lives and as part of societal resilience. He believes that by making digital insurance technology more accessible JRNY can help insurers protect more people better, and help tackle the global insurance protection gap.

    AirAssess is an insurtech startup that is pioneering the way insurer’s and their supply chains conduct pre and post-loss roof assessments.

    Anthony has a love for flying, a knack for technology and a passion for business, with experience in engineering and technology development across small and large businesses, start-ups and the military. He was previously a commissioned officer in the Royal Australian Air Force and is now deeply involved in the unmanned technology (drone) sector, with vast experience in utilising drone technology and process automation to drive commercial outcomes. Anthony won the inaugural NexGen Industry Champion award in 2019 for his contribution to industry and was recently elected to the board of the Australian Association of Unmanned Systems. Anthony draws on his aviation and technical experience to drive the development of AirAssess’ technology platform and insurance inspection solutions.

    Anthony holds a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering from RMIT University and an MBA from the Melbourne Business School.

    Juliette is a professional water resources engineer turned entrepreneur. Juliette is a passionate and driven individual, inspired by social good and solving big-impact problems. After seeing the devastation of the Queensland 2011 floods and then the Calgary, Canada 2013 flood, and how each impacted on friends and family, Juliette was motivated to improve flood preparedness and response. In 2018 Juliette founded FloodMapp with her co-founder Ryan Prosser. FloodMapp combines traditional hydrology and hydraulic modelling techniques with big data analytics and machine learning; to offer predictive flood mapping aimed at helping insurers prevent loss and improve the customer experience in the moments that matter.

    Prior to FloodMapp, Juliette worked as a consultant and water resources engineer for over ten years specialising in surface water management, flood modelling, hydrology, water supply planning and mine water management. Throughout her career, she has worked at Golder Associates, Seqwater and Jacobs, gaining experience with different climates and hydrological challenges across Australia, Indonesia and Canada.

    Alan's former ventures include a food company backed by Khosla Ventures, Bill Gates and New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady, as well as a sports analytics and marketing firm with clients across the NFL, NBA, and professional soccer.  

    His current company, Relativity6, is based on Alan's thesis research focused on predicting the behavior of customers in the P&C insurance industry.

    As National Head of the Insurance Broking Segment for Macquarie Business Banking, he recently led an Australian delegation along with Insurtech Australia to London and Munich for the Digital Insurance Agenda, and also led Macquarie to be a founding partner in Insurtech Australia last year

    Eoghan is passionate about helping his clients prepare for success in a rapidly changing industry. With 20 years’ experience in the banking and financial services sector, he draws on Macquarie’s deep industry expertise and strong relationships to connect brokers with new opportunities, from operational efficiency and technology to new funding models, M&A activity or equity structures.

    Eoghan speaks the language of insurance and broking, and can cut through the rhetoric to spark ideas and find new answers to emerging challenges.

    Appointed Chief Executive Officer of ANZIIF in 2013, Prue has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, business and education.

    Prue joined ANZIIF after 10 years as the General Manager of Corporate Operations with State Trustees. She is currently a director at Australian banking institution, MyLife MyFinance, and civil engineering firm, Citywide Services Solutions. Up until her appointment at ANZIIF, she served as Deputy Chancellor of Victoria University.

    Since her appointment as ANZIIF CEO, Prue has led the transformation of the organisation through the introduction of ANZIIF Professional Standard Qualifications. She has strengthened relationships with industry, entering into partnerships that extend through Asia Pacific and recently into Europe.

    Prue holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology and a Diploma of Financial Services from ANZIIF. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, and an ANZIIF Senior Associate.

    Rita is the CEO of Insurtech Australia with the mission of helping Australia become a world leading Insurtech ecosystem, having previously been on the founding leadership team and Advisory Committee. 

    Prior to this role, Rita worked for three years as the Head of Corporate Partnerships and Insurtech Lead for Stone & Chalk, Asia-Pacific's largest Fintech hub. 

    In that role Rita worked with over 25 large corporate partners in the financial services space, with the goal of bridging the gap between the startup ecosystem and corporate Australia, whilst promoting growth and commercialisation for the fintech startup community. 

    Rita has years of experience spanning insurance and financial services as well as health and not-for profit industries. She also sits on advisory committees for CEBIT, Antler Australia and AILA Techhub.
