Master of ceremonies

Mau Alison 2014 square crop 2

Alison Mau has been on Kiwi screens for almost 20 years.

Nowadays Alison is on radio, co-hosting a Radio Live midday show with Willie Jackson! With her great sense of humour and strong opinions it makes for an entertaining and dynamic show.

Though now a familiar face on New Zealand television screens, Melbourne-born Alison Mau began her first New Zealand job on an early style of magazine current affairs on a show called Made in New Zealand. Alison caught the eye of TV One news executives and in 1994 moved to anchoring and reporting on late evening news and current affairs programme Eyewitness.

She was then seconded to TV2's popular Newsnight, as co-presenter with Marcus Lush. A change of pace saw Mau land a new role in 2000 co-hosting Breakfast with Mike Hosking. In 2004 Alison was back with Breakfast with co-host Paul Henry.

At the end of 2004 Mau left TVNZ and joined Paul Holmes at Prime. She worked as a reporter and back-up host for Holmes until early 2006.

In 2008 she was back with TVNZ as fill-in Breakfast host and newsreader across all the bulletins: Breakfast, Tonight and One News at Six.

Two years later she joined the ranks of consumer programme Fair Go, one of the longest running series on New Zealand television. At the beginning of 2013 Alison joined the trio of presenters on new, five-nights-a-week prime-time show Seven Sharp, TV One's replacement for the long-running Close Up.
