    Brenton is an innovation, strategy and insurtech specialist experienced in helping entrepreneurs, teams and executives make ideas happen. Brenton is the CEO and Co-founder of Insurtech Australia, Australia’s first member organisation supporting growth of the Australian Insurtech ecosystem. Most recently, Brenton was the Chief Commercial Officer of ASX-listed AI Insurtech Flamingo Ventures and led strategy, sales, finances and operations across three continents. Brenton is now the Principal of Alpha39, a specialist innovation and insurtech agency helping financial services companies to make ideas happen.

    Previously, Brenton was Head of Innovation at MetLife Insurance Australia where he was responsible for embedding innovation and improvement to MetLife’s customer experience. Prior to this, Brenton spent 8 years' with KPMG, most recently as an innovation specialist. During this time, Brenton consulted in digital, Cx and innovation projects and was the global program manager for the elevate61 start-up accelerator, whilst advising and mentoring startups in programs like Techstars.

    Brenton is a qualified Chartered Accountant, a recovering tax adviser, has studied innovation at both Stanford and Oxford, is a qualified snowboard instructor and co-founder of his own startup with his wife Shelley, whose aim is to help people to thrive in a world of AI.

    Richard Deakin is the Insurance Director for CoreLogic, and has worked hands-on with some of NZ’s largest government departments and corporates who understand how daily decisions and operations processes can be improved and supported through powerful, meaningful data and analytics. For the past 14 years, Richard has worked hands on with New Zealand property data focusing for the past five years on helping insurers make the best use of available property data and analytics. Richard was central to the development of Cordell Sum Sure, CoreLogic’s revolutionary “Sum Insured” rebuild estimation platform and is a regular commentator in the media. He has a keen interest in Insurtech and global developments in the Insurance sector, and works closely with CoreLogic’s global insurance solutions teams and partners to monitor developments in this space.

    Mitchell Pham is a co-founder and director of both the Augen Software Group and the Kiwi Connection Tech Hub – a platform for NZ technology businesses to accelerate presence & engagement in South East Asia. Mitchell has been involved in technology innovation and the financial services sector for nearly 25 years. He is experienced in information management, software products & services, sales & marketing, international operations, strategy development, collaborative partnerships and business growth through innovation. Mitchell is the chairman of the NZ Technology Industry Association (NZTech) and the NZ Financial Innovation & Technology Association (FinTechNZ). He is also co-founder of the NZ Health IT Cluster (NZHIT).

    At 23 years of age Rene co-founded insurance brokerage Frank Risk Management. From the outset, the company focussed on acting for the client and on claims advocacy, quickly making headlines for its radically different approach to disclosing fees instead of taking commissions. Frank Risk was the 2016 winner of the ANZIIF small-medium broker of the year. In 2010 Rene launched Initio, New Zealand’s first automated online platform allowing users to quote, bind and pay for dwelling insurance. Rene leads the Initio and Frank technology initiatives including the development and launch of several other successful online platforms that transact and manage insurance online, including Frankie and FrankieMed. Rene is a graduate of the University of Waikato where he earned a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Management, specialising in commercial and insurance law and majoring in accounting.

    Appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance in 2013, Prue Willsford has over 25 years’ experience in financial services, business and education. 

    Prue joined ANZIIF after ten years as the General Manager of Corporate Operations with State Trustees, overseeing finance, technology, legal, compliance and investments for Victoria’s major private administrator, trustee and estates executor.  Prior to State Trustees she was employed as the Head of Investment Products for NAB, managing the development of financial products for a range of clients across the business. Prue also has experience in various finance, accounting and product management positions for Colonial Mutual and Macquarie Bank.

    Prue is an active volunteer with interests in education and urban development. She is currently a director of civil engineering firm Citywide Services Solutions. Up until her appointment, Prue also served as Deputy Chancellor of Victoria University, a 55,000 student university based in Melbourne, as part of which she was involved in the university’s governance and ceremonial duties. 

    Prue holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology. She is an ANZIIF Senior Associate and a Fellow of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Governance Institute of Australia.
