The Contracts of Insurance Act and its accompanying Contracts of Insurance (Repeals and Amendments) Act represent one of the largest legislative changes in New Zealand’s insurance law history.
The insurance industry will need to grapple with the key features of the Acts, and what changes might be necessary for them, before commencement in November 2027.
