Webinar: Rate Trends and Cycles — The Outlook for Insurers and Reinsurers

There are a wide range of key factors that influence rates in 2020, from catastrophe experience and climate change to the economic conditions and the various impacts of COVID-19.

Poor catastrophe experience and heavy losses arising from COVID-19 for both insurers and reinsurers have been exacerbated by the adverse economic environment. This has put upward pressure on premium rates for many classes.

Conversely, there has been downward pressure on rates for some classes who have experienced lower claims under COVID-19.

This presentation will identify the key drivers influencing premium rates for both direct insurers and reinsurers. Taylor Fry Principal, Kevin Gomes will join us to discuss recent analysis of rate trends and cycles as well as the outlook for rates across a variety of classes of business.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify the current key factors influencing rates
  • Discuss the causes of loss for both insurers and reinsurers
  • Explain the impact of losses on premium rates for different classes
