If you want to know more, come to ANZIIF's second Insurtech Conference to learn how the digital revolution is reshaping the industry and how disruption provides the chance to inspire.

Partnering with Insurtech Australia and FinTechNZ this regional conference brings together tech and insurance to find unique and innovative ways to work together. 

Day 1 of the conference which will feature an Insurtech 101 workshop, for insurance professionals who want to know more about Insurtech, the impact on them and also on the industry. 

Day 2 is a full day conference that will feature Insurtech Alley and Tech Tank.

Start-ups can join in the marketplace that will directly connect insurers with tech companies in Insurtech Alley. A site in the marketplace includes a bar table, two chairs and a sign with your company name.

Tech Tank


Start-ups, take the opportunity to get your ideas in front of the heavy hitters in the Australian insurance industry. Five start-ups will be given the opportunity to introduce their business to insurance executives during the conference as a way to build partnerships and to generally spread the word of your business. There is limited capacity in this session and places will be determined in conjunction with Insurtech Australia and FintechNZ.

    Graeme Adams has 34+ years’ experience in general insurance. Graeme is a Director at Finity Consulting Australia’s largest independent actuarial and analytical consulting firm and heads up Finity’s Management Consulting service.

    In 1985, with the development of commercial applications for the PC, Graeme launched and managed an early Insurtech firm.  He has also held a number of senior roles at NRMA Insurance (IAG) including head of personal lines products, head of CTP insurance and head of international business development.

    Daniel has over 23 years of experience in leading and managing the application of advanced IT solutions for organisations within the financial services, telco, retail, manufacturing, and government sectors. He has worked with multi-nationals in more than 17 countries across every industry group and with enterprise clients including the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac, Bank of Queensland, Singapore Government, Telstra, McDonalds, and Banco Santander.

    Daniel is a former HPE Fellow and Thought Leader, a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA), FSI Co-Chair of the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), FINSIA Chair of the Retail and Business Banking Industry Council, Advisory Board member of Insurtech Australia, and a member of the University of Technology, Sydney’s (UTS) Bachelor of IT Steering Committee. He also serves as a technical advisor to startups, accelerators and venture capital funds globally.

    Daniel has a BS in Information Systems from Universidad del Salvador, Argentina, an MBA in International Business from L’Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC), France, and has completed the General Management Executive Education program at Harvard Business School (HBS).

    Matthew has specialised in forensic accounting for the past 15 years and has extensive claims experience in the quantification of economic loss for insurance and legal purposes. He has acted for many leading insurers, re-insurers and law firms in a range of matters, including business interruption, loss of profits, fraud/fidelity guarantee and motor vehicle accident claims. He regularly works alongside loss adjusters during the claims negotiation process and has experience dealing with claims in Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa, North America and the Middle East.  In the four years, 2014 to 2017, Matthew established the London office of FAS Global and also had responsibility for Cunningham Lindsey’s sizeable fraud investigation unit.  Having returned to Sydney he is now responsible for developing and partnering with digital technology providers to transform the loss adjusting and claims process across a range of classes of insurance.  He has presented to the industry on how technology will impact the claims adjustment process.

    Peter is a partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology group at DLA Piper. He advises clients on a broad range of projects involving complex contracting arrangements and has key sector experience in IT, insurance, telecommunications, financial services, logistics and health. Peter's involvement in negotiations has included advising both customer and service provider, working closely to ensure that key risks are addressed and resilient solutions included for future change. Peter has also advised financial services clients on cyber resilience approaches and supply chain management practices for data.

    Michael McAuliffe began his insurance career in 1977 at the age of 18 with QBE Insurance in Perth. Starting as the office junior and mail boy, he quickly moved through the underwriting ranks in various QBE branches, soon becoming Assistant Engineering Underwriter for Victoria, then moving on to be the Victorian Home Insurance Underwriter.

    In 1982, Michael was appointed Australian Personal Lines Underwriter in QBE’s global Sydney Head Office. Showing his talent and determination, he was further charged with a variety of senior positions including Global Travel Insurance Manager, Corporate Development Manager and Manager of the Sydney branch — which, at the time, was QBE’s largest branch worldwide.

    After completing an MBA at the University of Rochester, NY, and a long and successful career with QBE, Michael departed the company in 1992 to pursue his own business interests. With involvement in several entrepreneurial businesses — including direct marketing of personal lines and niche customer groups, distributing travel insurance through major travel agency chains, and member benefits marketing — [HT1] he gained experience outside the corporate brand safety net and learned what a successful business requires.

    In 2000, Michael teamed up with key internet entrepreneurs Simon Monk and Wayne Tregaskis to found what became World Nomads Group, a specialist travel insurance MGA. Through strong insurer partnerships, innovative thinking, and clever application of technology platforms developed in-house, World Nomads Group became a global distributor of travel insurance renowned for its leading, cutting-edge developments. The company was awarded the 2009 Insurance Innovator of the Year award by the Insurance Institute, and in July 2015, World Nomads was acquired by NIB Health Funds.

    Appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance in 2013, Prue Willsford has over 25 years’ experience in financial services, business and education. 

    Prue joined ANZIIF after ten years as the General Manager of Corporate Operations with State Trustees, overseeing finance, technology, legal, compliance and investments for Victoria’s major private administrator, trustee and estates executor.  Prior to State Trustees she was employed as the Head of Investment Products for NAB, managing the development of financial products for a range of clients across the business. Prue also has experience in various finance, accounting and product management positions for Colonial Mutual and Macquarie Bank.

    Prue is an active volunteer with interests in education and urban development. She is currently a director of civil engineering firm Citywide Services Solutions. Up until her appointment, Prue also served as Deputy Chancellor of Victoria University, a 55,000 student university based in Melbourne, as part of which she was involved in the university’s governance and ceremonial duties. 

    Prue holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology. She is an ANZIIF Senior Associate and a Fellow of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Governance Institute of Australia.

    Mr Zaman, joined MetLife in July 2014 as the Chief Innovation Officer for the company’s Asia region and Chief Executive Officer of LumenLab, an industry-first innovation centre based in Singapore. As a member of MetLife’s Asia Leadership Group, he is responsible for steering the company’s innovation agenda across the region, with a focus on addressing the health, ageing and wealth needs of Asia-based consumers. Mr Zaman joined MetLife from SingTel, where he spent 3 years as Chief Strategy Officer and Vice President of Emerging Businesses for SingTel’s Group Enterprise. He also co-led the acquisition of US-based Amobee, jumpstarting SingTel’s entry into the mobile advertising market. Prior to SingTel, he was the Chief Strategy Officer for LG Electronics North America during 2008-2011 and also served as the Chief Marketing Officer at FAST where he successfully positioned FAST as a leader in the enterprise search space which culminated in a US$1.2billion acquisition by Microsoft in 2008. At Gartner, a research and advisory firm known for its “crystal ball”, he ran the North American strategy consulting practice during 2003-2006. In the earlier part of his career, Mr Zaman was a member of the M&A team at Sun Microsystems. He has occupied various board positions at tech startups and was a board member on Viking. He currently sits on the Board of the Energy Market Authority of Singapore. Mr Zaman holds an MBA from Stanford’s GSB. He also has a bachelor’s degree from MIT in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in operations research, also from MIT.”
