Building on the success of the Rising Stars in Insurance seminar series held in 2017, ANZIIF is pleased to announce that Rising Stars in Insurance will be held again in 2018.

This interactive seminar will be facilitated by Margot Andersen, owner and director of talentinsight Australia and Insync Network Group. Joining Margot is a panel composed of senior industry experts and inspiring young professionals, who will share their own career and leadership insights around what they believe are the behaviours, attitudes and work patterns that characterise career resilience and how they have fostered it in their own careers.

    Emma Doney commenced her career in the insurance industry as an Office Administration Manager at Technical Assessing in 2009. After completing a Bachelor of Laws that same year, Emma progressed to full time loss adjusting soon thereafter.

    In the five years Emma was employed with Technical Assessing, she completed a Diploma of Financial Services (Loss Adjusting), and a Certificate IV in Building, while gaining significant experience in various adjusting sectors, including liability, construction and professional indemnity. 

    In 2015, Emma joined YDR Chartered Loss Adjusters as their Queensland Manager, where she has firmly placed the YDR brand in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. In 2016, Emma was awarded ANZIIF 2016 Young Insurance Professional of the Year, and in 2017 Emma was made Partner within YDR.

    Emma is the President of the Queensland Claims Discussion Group, and the Vice President of the Women in Insurance Queensland Chapter, having recently stepped down from her position as Division Councilor for the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters.. Emma regularly speaks at industry functions and seminars, and is known for the ‘off beat’ sense of humour which she manages to bring to even the driest of topics.

    Vishal has been in the insurance industry since 1999. Throughout his career to date, he has attained valuable experience previously working as an underwriter with Ansvar Insurance and prior to that with a global insurance broker called Willis in varying roles. 

    Vishal chose to be in the insurance industry at a very young age as he studied insurance as an undergraduate at Deakin University Burwood, Victoria. He is now a Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB), with a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking). He also holds a Fellowship with the Australian and New  Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (Fellow).

    Committed to the Insurance industry, he also has participated in the NIBA mentoring program and currently sits on the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance Faculty Advisory Board (FAB) & the NIBA Victorian Committee.

    Ben is a highly motivated insurance professional possessing an impeccable sense of business acumen. With a background in finance, Ben has a sound knowledge of practical economic theory, as well as financial reporting and analysis. He has a keen interest in new business development that focuses on negotiating the most optimal risk management strategies to assist his clients in achieving the best outcome. 

    Ben is accountable for the management of the Specialised Business Lines Division- Commercial (Gallagher), with existing experience in a broad portfolio ranging from SME, Commercial to Corporate.

    Ben holds a Bachelor of Business, Diploma of Insurance Broking, is a ANZIIF Senior Associate CIP and a NIBA QPIB.

    Ben takes pride in translating business vision and strategy into any task or action, and is always looking for innovative ways to improve.

    Pina has 28 years’ experience in managerial, operations, sales, distribution, marketing and Board positions in the superannuation and life insurance industry.

    Prior to AIA Australia, she worked for National Mutual, National Australia Bank, AIG, and TOWER, and is experienced in establishing administrative infrastructure, start-up operations, sales/distribution business units and insurance/superannuation products.

    As Chief Retail Insurance Officer and a member of AIA Australia’s Executive Committee, Pina is responsible for the Retail Channel end to end, which includes distribution, new business, underwriting, policy administration and claims for IFA and Direct Markets. 

    Pina has been the Chairperson for the AFA Victorian Committee, the AFA Foundation Committee and the AIA Women at Work Committee.

    Pina completed her Bachelor of Science majoring in Mathematics, Genetics and Organic Chemistry and a Bachelor of Education. She has also completed her Diploma in Financial Services.
