This year, Daniel Fogarty, CEO and Founder of Evari will facilitate and lead this high-powered discussion panel.

    Hilary Bates was appointed as Chief Claims Officer in August 2016. Hilary is responsible for leading Zurich’s Australian and New Zealand General Insurance Claims Operation, which is focused on delivering an outstanding claims service to our customers.

    Prior to joining Zurich, Hilary held senior claims management roles at QBE, including Head of Long Tail Claims and Head of Strategy and Technical. She worked in the USA for 7 years gaining valuable and varied experience across complex claims and senior claims management roles. Hilary started her career in private practice working within insurance, risk management and litigation practice groups.

    Hilary holds a Bachelor of Arts (Archaeology), Bachelor of Laws (Honors), and Master of Laws from the University of Sydney and is admitted to practice law in New South Wales.

    With over 15 years working in the insurance industry, Hilary is passionate about claims and delivering on the promise to Zurich’s customers.

    CEO and Founder

    Daniel is a Board member of ANZIIF, and the CEO and Founder of Evari, a small business insurtech start-up based in Sydney and Perth. He is passionate about developing and attracting talent to our industry; and a strong supporter of Insurtech in Australia.

    Daniel was previously CEO General Insurance Australia and New Zealand for Zurich Insurance from mid 2012 until late 2015.  He joined Zurich in 2009, and was previously an Executive General Manager at Suncorp/Vero for 5.5 years. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Westpac in both insurance and banking, and started his career at KPMG.

    Daniel is a Fellow of ANZIIF, a Sloan Fellow with a Masters from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, California, a Chartered Accountant, and has a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting, Finance & Systems) from the University of NSW.

    Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer

    Peter was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in November 2015. Prior to becoming CEO, Peter was Chief Executive of IAG Labs where he led the company’s division dedicated to improving customer experiences through digital and design innovation. He has held a number of senior roles across IAG, including Chief Digital Officer and Chief Executive of Commercial Insurance.

    Peter joined IAG as Chief Executive Officer of CGU Insurance in 2010. Before joining IAG, Peter was Chief Executive Officer of Aon Limited UK, and a member of Aon’s Global Executive Board.  He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Aon’s Australian operations.

    Peter has more than 37 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with expertise in underwriting, reinsurance broking and commercial insurance broking.  His earlier roles include: Managing Director of John C. Lloyd Reinsurance Brokers, Chairman and Chief Executive of Aon Re and Chairman of the London Market Reform Group. Peter is a graduate of the Harvard Advanced Management Program.

    Estelle has worked in the general insurance industry for more than 25 years with a range of insurers and reinsurers on issues of risk and strategy She specialises in consulting to casualty insurers operating in the Australian and New Zealand markets on a range of topics including reserving, pricing, capital and strategy. 

    Previously Estelle has worked for the HIH Royal Commission and more recently the Royal Commission into Institutional responses to child sexual abuse. Estelle is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, and was the Institute's President in 2015. In 2012 Estelle was named Actuary of the Year by the Actuaries Institute  acknowledging her contribution to the Australian profession and encouragement of future generations of actuaries.

    Scott is Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of iSelect. Prior to his current role, Scott was Commercial Director and maintained overall responsibility for the company’s individual business units and product provider relationships.Scott has over 20 years of sales and key account management experience within multinational fast-moving consumer goods and entertainment companies.

    Prior to joining iSelect, Scott was Sales Director (Australia & New Zealand) for 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, following senior national sales roles at SPC Ardmona and PZ Cussons. Scott is also Chairman of iMoney, Malaysia.
