Dive in Festival 2020

The Dive In Festival promotes year-round best practice in diversity and inclusion with tools and advice that culminate in an annual three-day festival from 22-24 September.

The event will be delivered in a new virtual format in 2020, ensuring that participants globally will be able to attend any one of over 90 virtual events taking place in over 30 countries.

In the lead up to this years' Festival, ANZIIF again joined forces with Wotton + Kearney, SURA and Liberty Specialty Markets to research how experiences of workplace inclusion are affecting the insurance industry.

We will explore the results in a keynote delivered by Dr Jennifer Whelan.

How experiences of workplace inclusion are affecting psychological safety in 2020 | 23 September, 10:00am - 11:00am

In the wake of COVID-19, most countries have experienced some degree of lockdown and social isolation requirements, and vast numbers of employees have experienced a radical shift in the way they work. For many of us, these remain ongoing challenges.

This year’s Dive In theme of “Local Voice, Global Impact” reflects perfectly the challenges of tackling a global pandemic, while being largely confined to our homes.

In 2019, we took a deep dive into how inclusion is experienced by diverse people working in the insurance and risk industry. We found that some people feel more included than others; men, older people, leaders, and people who can do some or all of their work remotely feel a stronger sense of inclusion than others. This year we will revisit these themes to establish change over time, and also extend the survey to explore how COVID-19 has impacted on our experiences of inclusion at work.

In this year’s national virtual Dive In event, we will share the insights from this new survey in a keynote delivered by Dr Jennifer Whelan. The keynote will highlight trends and changes compared to the 2019 results, and importantly, explore how COVID-19 has impacted how included and psychologically safe people feel at work in this new normal.

Specifically, we will explore:

  • Inclusion trends compared to the results of the 2019 survey.
  • The COVID-19 related challenges of widespread remote working.
  • How remote teams and leaders have maintained a sense of inclusion and psychological safety in a virtual world.
  • The opportunities presented by this “new normal” of flexible work.

Participants will again have the opportunity to discuss and generate ideas to ensure that leaders and teams can use inclusion to support their work experiences, wherever they do their work from.

All attendees from across Australia are welcome to attend.
